Every child possesses an undiscovered hidden talent. Children need a creative space that not only gives them recreation, but also channelises their energy into creative and beautiful expressions. The hobby classes provide just such a a\space for the children to discover, develop and express their talent in the areas of art & craft, music, dance and sports. Specialized teachers for these subjects ensure that the pleasures and rewards of creative works complement academic study and encourage concentration, patience, commitment and teamwork.
Sports and games take their rightful place in the lives of our students, which gives them the opportunity to develop their physical skills and to remain healthy and active, while experiencing the pleasure of achievement. With the help of skilled trainers, the school provides for a wide range of outdoor and indoor activity such as volleyball, basketball, table tennis, badminton and skating. The discipline and practice required to excel, helps the students gain confidence in all that they do.
Yoga teaches to use the body as the bow, asanas as the arrow, and the soul as the target. We therefore give due emphasis on the practice of Yogic asanas to improve the physical and mental health of the children. This also inculcates spiritual and moral upliftment of children.
Students get an opportunity to observe and celebrate major festivals of India by observing days of national importance, enacting plays depicting the history and cultural festivals of India. Hymns invoking the blessings of goddess Saraswati are sung daily during School Assembly.
Excursions and travel provide a dimension to the learning process, which cannot be simulated in any way except by actually doing it. Students of all ages are encouraged to enjoy and benefit from outings, visits, field trips – the many and varied ways in which their education can be enhanced by seeing something new by going somewhere different. Every year, students undertake visits to cultural, historical or amusement centers. The trips and excursions are thoroughly planned and supervised by our faculty with the safety and comfort of students in mind.
Students are trained to have a healthy, nutritious and satvik diet because it is believed that healthy food makes a healthy mind. This is an organized programme, where the students have their lunch together under supervision as per the Indian system which also teaches self control. To develop proper food habits, a prescribed list is provided which includes one fruit, seasonal vegetables, sprouts and chapattis along with a plate, bowl and a napkin. Junk food of any variety is strictly prohibited.
An event which is unique of SHPS and eagerly looked forward to by all is the 'Farewell' hosted every year in February for the outgoing students of Class X. The entire Faculty and students of Class IX get together to wish best of lucks to the outgoing students of Class X for their upcoming Board exams and future career in life. The unique feature of this function is the ceremonial 'HAVAN' performed individually by all the students of Class X to invoke the blessings of Goddess Saraswati which is then followed by lunch and a fun filled program.
Regularly, the School organises various competetions and contests to further hone the skills of the students in the competetive arena. Quiz contests in subjects like Mathematics and Science help the students to rise above their curriculam while competetions in the field of Cultural activities, singing & Sports among others encourage the students to stand on their feet to meet the challenges of life.
Students are encouraged to play their part in community service within the House System, the School and in the local community. Blood donation drives, tree plantation, various activities highlighting socio-economic issues are just some of the services undertaken by our students.
